Designated mapped-out routes for swim crossing.
A Lake Ontario swim crossing is one of the premier open water swimming challenges in the world. The South to North route typically begins at Niagara-on-the-Lake. This is a grueling swim for any swimmer and swimmers need to be physically and mentally fit for this feat of endurance that can take anywhere from 14 to 24 hours or even more to complete. Lake Ontario’s unique challenges are water temperatures, strong and unexpected currents and waves if conditions are not perfect.
All Lake Ontario Swims must be SOLO Swims sanctioned
and crossing convoys must adhere to requirements. One of these is one main boat and two zodiacs with crew.
